About Me

Flexible Family Kitchen shares adaptable family recipes designed for people managing food allergies, intolerances and mixed dietary needs.

Hi, I’m Jenni — recipe creator, former meal prep business owner, and the voice behind Flexible Family Kitchen.

I feel like I’ve lived many lives in my almost 50 years on this planet, and I’m still not finished learning, growing and exploring. I’m a mum, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a lover of food, a cat mum, a qualified accountant, a puzzle enthusiast and a reluctant gardener. But more than anything, I’m someone who believes good food should work for real life.

Cooking has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but my passion for creating healthy, family-friendly meals really took off when I joined the Sarah Wilson I Quit Sugar program many years ago. After completing the program myself, I was invited to become an ambassador and help guide others through their sugar-free journey.

From there my love of recipe development only grew. I later worked as a recipe tester for The 4 Blades and also tested recipes for Megan Ellam, which meant even more time experimenting in the kitchen and learning how ingredients work together.

Eventually I made a big decision — I left my corporate accounting career and started a personal meal prep service called Ketolicious Kreations, which later became Your Meals. Our cooks went into clients’ homes and prepared meals tailored to their family needs, dietary requirements and sensory preferences.

During that time I created hundreds of recipes designed to work across many different dietary needs. Gluten-free, nut-free, egg-free, soy-free, olive-free, pescatarian, nightshade-free — you name it, I probably cooked it. My goal was always to make one meal that could work for everyone at the table, rather than cooking multiple separate dishes.

Life changed again when I was hit with long COVID and developed chronic fatigue. Eventually I made the difficult decision to sell the business so I could focus on my health. It’s still going strong today, but I’ve always missed the creative side of developing recipes and sharing them with others.

Now, a few years later, I’m feeling so much better and the spark to create in the kitchen is back. With more and more people managing food allergies, intolerances and dietary restrictions, it felt like the right time to start sharing my recipes again — this time with notes on how you can adapt each recipe to suit different needs.

Flexible Family Kitchen exists because of a client I still cook for today — Marc — and everyone like him. Marc can’t eat gluten, lactose, eggs, soy, corn, olive products, dextrose or many common fillers. Almost everything he eats has to be made from scratch.

Imagine going out with friends and only having two restaurants you can safely eat at. Imagine travelling somewhere and having to pack an esky of meals because you can’t rely on local food options.

That’s the reality for many people living with multiple food intolerances.

This website is designed to help make cooking easier in those situations.

Who Flexible Family Kitchen is for

Flexible Family Kitchen is for people who want practical recipes that can be adapted for different dietary needs.

This site may be especially helpful if you:

• cook for someone with multiple food intolerances
• need dairy-free, egg-free or gluten-free recipes
• are managing soy, corn or additive sensitivities
• have family members who eat different styles of diets
• want to cook one meal that works for everyone
• prefer simple recipes using everyday ingredients

Many of these recipes include suggestions for adapting the meal depending on what your family can or cannot eat.

What you’ll find here

At Flexible Family Kitchen you’ll find practical, adaptable recipes designed for real life.

Most recipes include ideas for adjusting them to suit different dietary needs, including:

  • dairy-free options
  • egg-free options
  • gluten-free alternatives
  • soy-free and corn-free adjustments
  • low-carb options
  • “carb it up” options for families with mixed dietary needs

My goal is to help you cook one meal that can work for everyone, rather than preparing several different dinners.

The recipes here use simple instructions and everyday ingredients you can find in most supermarkets wherever possible. If you have more complex dietary needs, some specialty ingredients may still be required, but I try to keep things practical.

You also won’t find perfectly styled food photos here. Most of the pictures are a quick snap before we sit down to eat — because that’s what real family cooking looks like.

And you won’t see macros listed on every recipe either. After many years of following strict keto and low-carb diets, I’ve moved towards a more balanced approach to food. For me, overly rigid rules eventually created more problems than they solved.

These days I focus on cooking mostly nutrient-dense meals, making what I can from scratch, reducing waste where possible, and enjoying the occasional “sometimes food” when the mood strikes.

Because food should nourish us — not control us.

If you’re navigating allergies, intolerances or complex dietary needs, I hope you find recipes here that make life in the kitchen a little easier.
